Hindi nagustuhan ng LGU o Local Government Unit ng Tinglayan, Kalinga ang napanood nilang video sa social media na pag-tattoo ni Apo Whang-od sa maselang bahagi ng katawan ng isang banyaga o foreigner.
Hindi lingid sa marami na si Apo Whang-od ay 109 years old na, itinuturing rin siya bilang National Treasure ng Pilipinas at ang pinakamatandang mambabatok sa ating bansa.
Nanawagan naman ang LGU ng Tinglayan sa mga taong bumibisita kay Apo Whang-od na sana raw ay bigyan ng respeto ang kultura at tradisyon ng Kalinga Batok.
Ani ng LGU : “We are therefore deeply concerned by reports of a visitor who insisted on having a tattoo placed on an intimate part of his body by Apo Whang-od.”
Bahagi pa ng kanilang pahayag : “While we respect Apo Whang-od’s personal decision as a mambabatok, we likewise emphasize that visitors have a responsibility to approach Kalinga traditions with respect, sensitivity, and cultural understanding.”
Dagdag pa nila : “The fact that a cultural practitioner may agree to a request does not mean that every request is appropriate.”
Marami naman sa mga netizens ang nagbigay ng kanilang pahayag tungkol sa pag-tattoo ni Apo Whang-od sa maselang bahagi ng katawan ng isang foreigner.
Ani ng netizen : “Tell that to Whang-Od. It’s her call to define what is good and bad to her. It’s between her and the client. If both have mutual agreement to do a certain thing, then there’s nothing we can do. The judgement is not for us to make.”
“Respect goes both ways. If Apo were a man touching the private parts of his clients, he’d be in serious trouble. The same standards should apply regardless of gender. Being a national treasure should not excuse anyone from touching people’s private parts. With Consent or none still does not make it right but she’s Apo so she can say no if she does not want to.”
