Ano kaya ang issue ng BINI drummer na si Zach Alcasid kay Rey Cantong na isang musical director?
Usap-usapan sa social media ang naging sagutan nina Alcasid at Rey Cantong online dahil umano sa hindi bayad na mga shows ni Zach.
Hindi lingid sa marami na araw-araw nating napapanood sina Zach at Rey sa It’s Showtime, sila ang tumutugtog na banda sa segment ng noontime show na ‘Laro Laro Pick’.
Bakit nagka issue sina Zach Alcasid at Rey Cantong?
Himutok ni Zach sa kanyang Facebook page na hindi maayos ang pagpapa-sahod sa kanya bilang isang drummer.
Panimula ni Zach : “I’m an advocate for musicians’ getting proper compensation and treatment. Transparency is so important to me, as well as communication. As a musical director, you can’t make them perform/rehearse without knowing how much you’ll get paid or when you’ll get paid,
“Rehearsals weren’t being paid, out of town shows that have lower rates than Metro Manila shows. Concerts/Performances that are unpaid (up to now) and you don’t know how much or when you’ll expect the payments. You just show up and hope that you get the compensation you deserve.” bahagi ng post ni Zach.
Nagbigay rin si Zach ng babala sa mga kapwa niya musicians na umiwas sa isang musical director na may masamang galawan. Nilinaw rin nito na ang banda niya ay tanging ang ‘Underclass’ lamang at wala ng iba pa.
Dagdag niya : “Be careful of musical directors like this, we can’t let them take over the industry. There are a lot more skilled/passionate musicians that are worthy of this position. Don’t buy into the fame/exposure crap.
“With that being said, my only band as of this moment is Underclass. I’m not associated with any band as a drummer.” wika ni Zach Alcasid.
Pahabol pa ni Zach sa comment section : “For the record, hindi aabot sa ganito kung merong proper communication. Hindi ito sa mababa o mataas ang bayad. If I knew na ganyan ang ibabayad niya, hindi na ako sumampa simula pa lang. That’s the point of this post, ang nangyayari gulatan na lang kung magkano at kelan ang budget.”
Alam naman natin na si Rey Cantong ay may bandang ‘Six Part Invention’, siya ang lead vocalists, guitarists at keyboardist ng naturang banda.
Dahil sa social media post na ito ni Zach ay tila pumalag si Rey sa comment section.
Ani Rey : “Kung magsalita ka naman para kang kinawawa. Just to be clear everyone… A sessionist’s standard rate is P6-P8k performance rate. P3k for a rehearsal.
“Now I heard nagtaas na sila. P10k performance rate, P5k rehearsal Last night, you are paid P30,000 for the entire show. So paano ako naging unfair?” tanong nito kay Zach.
Binigyan diin rin ni Rey na kung may issue siya sa pasahod ay bakit hindi nagrereklamo si Zach o di naman ay magsalita, nilinaw rin nito na sa tagal niya sa ‘music industry’ ay si Alcasid lang ang tanging nagreklamo.
Wika ni Rey : “kung may issue ka bakit hindi ka nagsasalita. Ang dali namin kausap. Sa tagal ko sa industry, ikaw lang ang nagreklamo ng ganyan sa akin. Makipag usap ka ng harapan yun ang proper way. Bakit ka nagkakalat dito?”
Sa ngayon ay hindi pa malinaw kung anong mga gigs, rehearsals o shows ni Zach ang hindi pa bayad, may mga netizens kasi ang nagsasabi na baka raw kasama rito ang mga performances nila sa PPOP group na BINI.

Sa ngayon ay tuloy o ongoing parin ang work ni Rey sa BINI bilang musical director, mayroon silang upcoming event na ‘BINIfied’ year-end party sa November 2025.
