MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units have announced the suspension of classes for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continues to bring rain to parts of Luzon.
The latest announcements primarily affect areas in Central Luzon and other locations experiencing flooding or unfavorable weather conditions.

Why Are Classes Suspended?
The suspensions are linked to the continuing effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, which is expected to bring additional rains to parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
PAGASA said the monsoon will continue affecting parts of Luzon and Visayas, with areas such as Zambales and Bataan potentially experiencing prolonged moderate to heavy rainfall.
Local governments may suspend face-to-face classes when weather conditions, flooding or other hazards pose risks to students, teachers, and school personnel.
No Nationwide Class Suspension – There is currently no nationwide suspension of classes for September 9, 2026.
Class cancellations depend on announcements from individual LGUs, DepEd offices and schools. Some areas may suspend face-to-face classes while continuing lessons through online, modular or other alternative learning arrangements.
